Did you purchase a single bowl or a package of food?
The single bowls are delivered as is and you do not 'open' them just rez in world. The packages of 5,10, and 20 come in a package "box" to unpack.
If you purchased a single bowl and opened it you'll need to file a support ticket to get it replaced and mention the kitty id's that got sick. I'm sure support will help and get you set.
